Middlebury, located in Vermont’s Champlain Valley, is also Addison County’s shire town. The county is home to approximately 30,000 residents; the town is home to about 8,500 residents. This picturesque Vermont village is surrounded by the natural beauty of both the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. Accessible by car, train, bus and air, Middlebury is a short 3.5 hours from Boston, 4.5 hours from New York and 2.5 hours from Quebec.

By Train Visitors wishing to arrive via Amtrak can take the Ethan Allen Express direct from Penn Station NYC stopping at Middlebury every day at 8:45pm. The return train south leaves the Middlebury station daily just before 11am. 

By Air

Commercial airlines are available at Burlington International Airport to the north and Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport to the south. For private aviation, the Middlebury State Airport is located a few miles south of town.

ByBus

Tri-Valley Transit provides local bus service within Addison County, including the Snow Bowl Shuttle, which offers easy access to nearby skiing. Connecting bus services allow passengers to reach both Burlington and Rutland.

For destinations beyond the Champlain Valley, Vermont Translines provides bus service along the Route 7 corridor (north/south) and the Route 4 corridor (east/west).

Local Transportation

There is currently no taxi or ride sharing service in Middlebury. Rental cars are available in Rutland and Burlington.
