WinterFest is kicking off with a Lantern Walk!

Bring a lantern to the Marbleworks Riverfront Park at 6pm on Friday February 15th. Join family, friends, and neighbors in a beautiful procession of light around the falls. The Lantern Walk (6-7pm) is a free, family friendly, do-it-yourself community event. Come early for a flatbread buffet at American Flatbread (5-6pm, RSVP required, follow the link then click the green “TICKETS” button to buy $10 tickets HERE

5-6pm: Flatbread Buffet – RSVP required please

Middlebury Flatbread will serve up a buffet of flatbreads. $10/person buffet and cash bar.

6-7pm: Lantern Walk – No RSVP just show up!!
Gather by 6pm to join the procession! Starts and ends in the Marbleworks Riverside Park. We will loop around the waterfall, Main Street, and the Town Green. Bring a lantern, friends, family, hot cocoa, warm hearts and feet. See below for lantern making ideas.

After 7pm: Enjoy Middlebury!
Stay in town, find some food and drink, go see the show at Town Hall Theater!


Lantern-Making Workshops:

We will host several free, kid-friendly lantern-making workshops in the weeks prior to the Lantern Walk. You can learn about those workshops here. Middlebury Studio School is offering multi-age Lantern Making Workshops on Friday Feb 1st and Friday Feb 8th. – Time and Downtown location TBD

Make your own Lantern:

You’ll want a lantern that you can carry from the end of a stick, or something similar. There are many easy ways! Get some ideas here or go straight to one of these:

  1. Decorate a paper lamp shade
  2. From construction paper
  3. With a balloon and tissue paper
  4. With a wood frame and tissue paper
  5. With a tin can, hammer and awl
