Lessons and Carols has become a familiar Christmas-themed service at St. Stephens in the past few years. We think of it as “a taste of Christmas,” with popular carols and with readings from a range of Advent texts, including the Christmas story. But we mix in readings from a range of religious writers, theologians, and poets, including T. S. Eliot “Magi.” This service was originally put together by the Liturgy Committee, and it has evolved over recent years. Jay Parini will lead this service, which takes place at ten a.m. – a single service – the week after Christmas. It’s a service that has no Eucharist, the only service of the year that fits this description. All are welcome to come and sing and remember the season.
