Today Kelly and I  took a little trip to the State House — joining fellow downtown organizations from across Vermont to celebrate Vermont Downtown Day.
There’s something special about being in a room full of people who care deeply about their communities. Over coffee and muffins, we had the chance to chat with representatives and fellow downtown champions, share stories, and showcase the work happening on the ground in towns like ours — the events, the small moments, the behind-the-scenes effort that all adds up to vibrant, connected downtowns.
We talked about what makes it all possible too — the importance of continued investment in programs like the Downtown Vibrancy funding, which help organizations like ours keep doing this work every day. A big thank you to the Vermont Downtown Coalition and the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development for bringing everyone together.
Days like today remind us that strong downtowns don’t happen by accident — they happen because people show up, speak up, and work together. And if you love Middlebury as much as we do, it’s always worth letting your legislators know!
