What We’ve Been Up To in April to Date
Spring Cheer on Main St 💐💐💐💐💐

You may have noticed the pop of color across downtown—our Main Street SPRING bunting is up! Big thanks to Peck Electric (especially the mystery cherry picker!) and the talented little artists at Quarry Hill Preschool for painting such joyful flags. It’s amazing what a little color can do to lift the mood.

Representing Middlebury in Philly

We joined our fellow Vermonters in Philadelphia for the Main Street Now Conference, where we gathered ideas, inspiration, and practical tools to make our town even more vibrant. We heard from Philly’s mayor, the Governor of Pennsylvania, and community leaders from across the country. So many exciting ideas are in the works.

Bank of Middlebury Open House

On Wednesday, April 9th, we celebrated with balloons, cake, and community spirit—such a joy to see the doors wide open between the bank and the library, welcoming everyone in! Thanks to the National Bank of Middlebury for welcoming us all—( and we 🫶🏼 the mini Ilsley in its new temporary home) 🏡!

Brainstorming Big (and Small!) Improvements

We’ve been is discussions about murals and markets, posters, parking, lighting, flags, bins and public bathrooms, plus clean-up strategies and planting with parks and rec and public works, all guided by our wonderful team at the Town Offices and other community partners.  We’ve been discussing new and favorite ways to make Middlebury even more welcoming and wonderful, so stay tuned for window clings, planters, posters, fence art at the Ilsley site, and further mini park ideas—and hopefully some creative ways to spruce up some of our downtown windows…

What’s Coming This May (and Beyond!) some dates for your diary.

Saturday May 3rd: @experiencemiddlebury First Spring fair of the Season!
Join @experiencemiddlebury and Henry Sheldon from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Henry Sheldon Museum porch and garden plus Cannon Park for the kickoff of our spring and summer market series! Featuring music by Liz Reedy on the Sheldon porch and vendors including Foxglove Farm, Luxe Boutique, Hazelbuds Clay, Toad Hall Flowers and Boricua Revival—it’s the perfect way to find something special for Mother’s Day. Pop over to Dan Freeman’s porch on Park St next to Flora and find a beautifully crafted piece of bespoke leather, and visit the PhotoPlace Gallery and check out their gallery of specialty art. We will be sharing Cannon Park with Frog Hollow bikes who have their annual bike swap that day, so it will be a festive day in Middlebury!

Town-Wide Clean Up Day!
Middlebury will be pulling up its sleeves for a little spring TLC the same day, so if you are inclined, grab your gloves and come be part of making our town sparkle just in time for summer.
Monday May 26th: Memorial Day Fun

As is tradition, Middlebury honors the day with pride and purpose, and launches into summer 2025 with community spirit. Be ready for marching bands, horse drawn carriages, flags, dogs, oxen and floats, all congregating at the war memorial for a short service to honor all those who have served and kept us safe over the years.

June: Official Opening Weekend at Town Hall Theater
We’re thrilled for a big Town Hall Theater celebration in June as the newly renovated space comes to life. More details coming soon, but get ready for music, performances, and summer magic. Keep an eye out for happenings around town as we all celebrate this special community space together.

July 5th & 6th: Circus Smirkus at Parks & Rec!
Mark your calendars—Circus Smirkus is back in town with shows that delight all ages. A joyful, colorful, and truly unforgettable summer tradition under the big top!
See the Addison Independent, Addison Arts, @experiencemiddlebury on social media, Minibury and FPF for further details closer to the time.

We’re so excited for this season ahead—markets, music, murals, and more. Middlebury is blooming, and it wouldn’t be the same without you. Thanks for being part of this big-hearted little town. See you soon!
