There’s something about fall in Vermont that feels like magic. The air turns crisp, the hillsides blaze with color, and Middlebury hums with the energy of community coming together. This year, that energy will peak on Sunday, October 12th when Main Street transforms into the stage for the 4th Annual Middlebury Car Show & Fall Festival.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., downtown will close to traffic and open up to a celebration that blends classic cars, live music, vendors, and the spirit of autumn in full swing. Rows of gleaming chrome and polished paint are set against a backdrop of crisp blue skies—its peak leaf-peeping season and a perfect excuse to linger in town!

More Than Just Cars Yes, there’ll be  75 classics and vintage beauties, from muscle cars to cruisers, each with its own story under the hood. But this festival is designed for everyone. Expect 30+ vendors offering crafts, local goods, and plenty of street food to keep you fueled. Add in music from Ted from Star Radio and 92.1, giveaways, prizes and games for kids, and you’ve got a day that feels like a celebration of fall itself.

The best part? It’s free for spectators. Whether you’re a die-hard gearhead or just someone who loves a lively Main Street, this festival is for you.

Behind the Scenes: A Community Effort Events like this don’t happen by accident. They’re the product of months of collaboration and teamwork. The Addison County Chamber of Commerce and the Better Middlebury Partnership are back at the wheel together for the fourth year running, steering this festival into place with a mix of experience, enthusiasm, and new energy from fresh partners and sponsors.

And then there’s the quiet, crucial work that makes everything shine:

  • Public Works, our Middlebury Police team, and Fire Departments helping to close down Main Street safely, manage crowds, and keep the day running smoothly.
  • Local sponsors—both longtime supporters and new friends—whose backing ensures the festival remains vibrant, accessible, and free to enjoy.
  • Vendors, food trucks, and volunteers who bring the festival to life with flavors, colors, and endless enthusiasm.

It truly takes a town to make Main Street glow like this.

Why We Love It Every October, as the leaves crunch underfoot and neighbors spill into town, we’re reminded that this festival is about more than horsepower. It’s about connection. It’s about families wandering down main st, kids having fun, old friends swapping stories, and strangers striking up conversations over funnel cakes and fenders.

See You on Main Street: Mark your calendars: Sunday, October 12th, 10–3. Grab your sweater, bring a camera, come hungry, and prepare to be wowed—by the cars, the food, the music, and most of all, the community spirit that makes this day unforgettable. From the behind-the-scenes planning to the final applause as Main Street reopens, this event is truly a team effort. And we couldn’t be prouder to be part of it.

See you downtown.
