Last Saturday, October 12th, Middlebury celebrated Pride in style, bringing together a vibrant and diverse multi-generational crowd of close to 800. Midd Pride was a truly collaborative event this year, with participation by Middlebury student Elio Farley, The Teen Center’s Lindsey Fuentes-George, and Kathryn Laliberte from The Ilsley children’s library. They led local families and friends in a joyful day, working together for a common aim, and the event provided a warm and creative space resonating through Main Street and Triangle Park for the duration of a glorious Saturday afternoon. The weather cooperated beautifully, bringing a stunning mid 70’s warmth, with participants partying and celebrating with highly original outfits, balloons, unicorns and rainbows, chalk murals and creativity. Close to 30 vendors, artists and artisans provided sustenance and retail opportunities all afternoon. The afternoon was celebratory, personal, supportive and fun, full of exhuberant energy and creativity, a space where Middlebury’s youth and their families were front and center, contributing to a broader sense of love, inclusion, pride, and unity in our Shire town.
