What a wonderful weekend for chocolate lovers in Middlebury!
Sunday’s Vermont Chocolate Festival at the Anderson Wing of Town Hall Theater created a fantastic buzz from the moment the doors opened at 11am. The space quickly filled with a lively crowd of chocolate enthusiasts eager to taste, learn, and celebrate all things cocoa — and the energy stayed strong right through to closing at 5pm. Adagio hosted Farmhouse Chocolate, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Daily Chocolate, Prophecy Chocolates, Golden Rule Mead, Foster Chocolate, Midd Sweets, & Fruition.
The day offered a little bit of everything. Tastings were busy, the demonstrations and classes were well attended, and people were genuinely curious to learn more about the craft behind chocolate — from bean to bar and everything in between. There was a sense of discovery as visitors moved from table to table, sampling beautiful creations and chatting with the makers. The evening before, the screening of Peace by Chocolate was completely full, adding another dimension to the event and bringing people together to explore the wider story and culture of chocolate. It was a heartwarming and thoughtprovoking film!
Most importantly, the weekend was delicious and fun — exactly what we hoped for. Families, friends, visitors and locals gathered to enjoy a sweet Mud Season moment together in Middlebury! A huge thank you to everyone who took part — the chocolatiers, speakers, volunteers and the many people who came out to support this first festival. And the best news? We’re already excited that Hanna and Allan of Adagio Chocolates are beginning to look at dates for the Vermont Chocolate Festival 2027. It seems this may just be the beginning of a very sweet tradition. 🍫
