On the evening of December 14, at just before 6pm, the train pulled into Middlebury carrying more than passengers — it carried generosity, warmth, and a little holiday magic! We truly didn’t know what to expect. It was a cold December night, and the question lingered: would anyone come?

They did. Around 50 neighbors, families, and friends gathered, bringing unwrapped toys for local children. Santa and Mrs. Claus and their elves were gracious and unhurried, staying with us longer than planned, chatting and posing for photos — and even promising to return by train again next year.

Elwood and Naomi added to the glow with homemade cookies and hot cocoa, shared on the platform as holiday music floated through the air. It was simple, heartfelt, and deeply joyful for us all. Yet again, it reminded us that it’s often the small, sweet moments that light the way — another quiet success during a Very Merry Middlebury! Happy Holidays, one and all!!
