What do you do when you’re presenting Mozart’s masterpiece The Magic Flute and one of the lead singers is stuck in traffic in Rutland?  How do you cope when cast members pursue their own interests (musical and amorous) that threaten to derail the whole production?
The director of a traveling company is about to find out, as the Middlebury College German for Singers and Vocal Coaches program presents (N)O—Magic Flute, or: Sarastro stuck in traffic at Town Hall Theater on Friday and Saturday, August 7-8, at 8:30 pm.  The production is in German with no subtitles.  With musical direction by Stefan Rütter and stage direction by Bettina Matthias and Stephan Boving.
The program is part of the famous summer Language Schools at Middlebury College.  Students take an intensive course in the German language while simultaneously learning how to sing the German opera repertory.
8:30 pm, pre-show talk in English at 7:45.
