Quality options for health and wellness make Middlebury a truly healthy place to live, work and play.
For a town of only 8,500 residents, Middlebury has a wide variety of options to serve health and wellness needs.
Porter Medical Center and its numerous affiliated physicians provide a wide variety of care to local residents, from the new Birthing Center to knee replacement surgery from Champlain Valley Orthopedics. There are two exceptional pediatricians’ practices in town, as well as the homey and well-run Helen Porter Nursing Home, which was recently featured in Sue Halpern’s book, “A Dog Walks Into A Nursing Home.”
For those who prefer natural solutions to healthcare, Middlebury has several options. Naturopathic physicians offer acupuncture, craniosacral therapy, and other holistic treatments. There are also a number of massage therapists and bodywork practitioners, chiropractors, physical therapists, and well-respected and talented mental health practitioners right in town.
Wellness and exercise are a big part of Middlebury’s healthy lifestyle. We are home to two health clubs, each offering a variety of programs from spinning to Zumba, with classes for children, adults and seniors. Additional indoor exercise and relaxation can be found through yoga, Pilates, Nia, and meditation classes throughout the Middlebury area.
